lyrics

There is a place deeper than the pit of man’s fear and darker than the summit of his ignorance. That place is the night bus. I had been unemployed for several months now. They told me that I needed to gain some… skills. I was doing some course on computers. I saw it all. Every night on the bus home I saw the fear and the trembling of humanity. And one night, I even saw – her. Scanning the routine menagerie of ordinary lunatics, cyclopes and Mark E Smith impersonators I glimpsed this knock-out blonde. You know the kind. With all the legs and all the lips and all of everything in between. God, she was… sacred… profane… one of each please. A blonde like blood in fresh snow. Well you won’t believe this but this blonde, what does she do next? Well she gets off the bus at the same stop as me. Me? I’m just on my way home. Ain’t nothing wrong with that? She turns a corner. Well I turn it too. We’re heading the same way. We just happen to be heading the same way. A coincidence. This is the way I always walk home. She starts to walking a little faster. Why is she speeding up? She tosses a glance back behind herself. Is she speeding up because of me? What does she think? She think that I’m following her? Why, this is the way I always walk home. I start to walking a little faster too. I’m not some monster. Not some lunatic. She keeps looking behind her. My steps start to mirror her tempo. What does she think I am? Suddenly she breaks into a full pelt run. And I’m running after her. And I’m screaming “I’m not going to rape you!”
… And in the end, I didn’t.
